Utonagan Rescue

In June 2003 I took in Redkite Ma'nou as her owner was having problems with her and she needed re-homing, I was supposed to find her a new home, however I fell in love with her and kept her myself.

By June 2004 I was being approached by people who had found Utonagan in rescue centres, or who needed to re-home their Utonagan and didn't know where to go, so I began Utonagan Rescue.

It wasn't until October of 2004 that I actually had to go and collect a Utonagan and bring her to my own home because there was no-where else for her to go, Skye was very underweight, and at 21 months had already had 6 homes, she also seemed to have been trained to bite in order to get attention. Skye was with me for 3 months before I felt she had put on enough weight to be re-homed again, and was a model citizen once more. Skye now has a wonderful, permanent home in Stafford, and I hope this success continues with every Utonagan that might unfortunately need our help.

Once people realised that there was a dedicated breed rescue, people in difficult situations that needed help with their dog, started coming to us, rather than going to their local pound, and I'm pleased to say that good homes have been found for all of them.

People's situations change, and people split up and can no longer keep their dog, I'd rather know that I had managed to place it in a great home, than worry about it being put into a rescue centre, some of which put the dog down within a week because no-one has chosen to take it home.

If your situation has changed, or for any reason you feel that you can no longer keep your Utonagan, please feel free to get in touch, you will not be judged, we just want to help your dog.
